Networking, networking, networking…might as well be blah, blah, blah given how many times we hear about it on any given day of our professional lives. Some people make a living with it and others claim to make a living by it, but what does it really mean.
As a professional, we are all given the opportunity to answer that question for ourselves, but the answer ultimately lies in how you make the most out of your opportunities to develop relationships with other professionals. The monthly meeting and other Austin ASTD events, provide such an opportunity. Whether it’s connecting with the person sitting next to you, getting to know someone a bit better while standing in the registration line, or sparking a new interest and reading a new book recommended by the speaker, these are all opportunities. Opportunities for you to connect with people you know, people you don’t, and ultimately, the knowledge and ideas that shape our profession.
