Corporate Membership

Austin ASTD looks forward to working with companies and organizations in the Central Texas area to promote workplace learning.

All corporate memberships must have at least three employees joining Austin ASTD in order to get the discounted rate. The rate will be $50.00 per member when the minimum membership number of three is met.

Networking and Austin ASTD Meetings

Networking, networking, networking…might as well be blah, blah, blah given how many times we hear about it on any given day of our professional lives. Some people make a living with it and others claim to make a living by it, but what does it really mean.

As a professional, we are all given the opportunity to answer that question for ourselves, but the answer ultimately lies in how you make the most out of your opportunities to develop relationships with other professionals. The monthly meeting and other Austin ASTD events, provide such an opportunity. Whether it’s connecting with the person sitting next to you, getting to know someone a bit better while standing in the registration line, or sparking a new interest and reading a new book recommended by the speaker, these are all opportunities. Opportunities for you to connect with people you know, people you don’t, and ultimately, the knowledge and ideas that shape our profession.

As we collaborate with other Austin organizations, we will include their events on this page in order to better serve the learning community. University of Texas Graduate Instructional Design Project The UT Advanced Instructional Design class has an exciting opportunity for Austin organizations and businesses to work with students during the spring semester. Dr. Paul Resta of the Instructional Technology program at UT Austin will be teaching the Advanced Instructional Systems Design (AISD) class this spring. Debby Kalk is working with him to line up projects. They are looking for projects for student teams that will give them hands-on instructional design experience and the opportunity to work with a real client on a real project. All students are in graduate school and have completed an introductory ISD class. Cliff Notes SIG

The Cliff Notes Club SIG promotes networking and professional learning opportunities using Audio-Tech Book Summaries. Unlike other book clubs, no pre-reading is necessary. Participants get to listen to a recorded book summary of popular business or leadership books (about 45 minutes) and then discuss that summary. Transcripts of the recording are available while listening, but are collected back to preserve copyright.

Special Interest Groups* are Austin ASTD training & development professionals who meet on a regular basis to expand their knowledge in specific areas and/or to enjoy networking with colleagues. Special Interest Groups (SIG's) meetings vary, but often include a speaker, a case study, or a discussion topic. There is usually time set aside before or after the meeting for informal networking and allowing participants to catch up or get acquainted. Austin ASTD SIGs are free, and with the exception of the members-only CPLP SIG, are open to both Austin ASTD members and guest attendees. We ask that you register for all events so that we can prepare enough space and materials for everyone. Continuing Education Credits

ASTD Austin recognizes that many professionals possess professional certification to enhance their knowledge and recognize their experience. In order to maintain the majority of professional certifications various CEUs can be required. Therefore we offer all of our members who attend a seminar or program continuing education credit certificates.

We strive to align all of our programs with the ASTD Workplace Learning Professional (WLP) Competency Model. Click the model diagram below for more detail on the ASTD WLP Competency Model.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are a recognized method of quantifying participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction. Please recognize though we provide CEU certificates for any member attending a program or seminar, it is the member's responsibility to verify with their certification board if the credits are accepted.
